Plagne Montalbert

Plagne Montalbert

Montalbert is a charming little authentic ski village, yet part of the enormous ski area of Paradiski which is La Plagne and Les Arcs combined. The attractive village is situated at an altitude of 1350 meters and enjoys an excellent ski record. The pistes also have advanced snow making facilities for early/late season skiing.

It’s a family orientated village with all the facilities needed for a good week's skiing. You will find several bars and restaurants, an internet café and small nightclub. There are several well stocked ski shops, a supermarket, butcher, bakeries and gift shops. The ski schoo offers tuition for all levels from complete beginner to advanced off-piste, as well as catering for children and toddlers. You will also find a tourist office which hosts various activities including the weekly torch-lit ski descent.

Plagne Montalbert is superbly situated

Montalbert has its own delightful selection of tree lined slopes and yet within 20 minutes you can be in the heart of La Plagne with its huge range of skiing for all abilities. To enjoy the skiing of Les Arcs you can ski over the mountains to the Vanoise Express, a high speed cable car which links the two huge ski areas. This will take you approx 1 hour and 30 minutes depending upon ability. The total area boasts 425km of piste, unlimited off piste (please take a guide) two glaciers and 108 lifts with numerous mountain restaurants to explore.

Romantic surroundings

The area is surrounded by the wonderful natural beauty of the Vanoise National Park. Montalbert is also home to 35 husky dogs who can take you on sledge ride for an exhilarating trip through the snow. There are many lovely cleared mountain walking paths through the forests and 35 Kms of cross-country ski tracks. Further afield there are several old romantic Savoyard villages to explore such as Notre dame du Pre, Longefoy or Montvilliers, and across the valley the vineyards and villages of the Versant du Soliel.

The nearest town is Aime (an easy 10 minute drive away) where you will find the station with regular train services. On Saturday there is a non-stop direct service from London. A taxi can bring you up to Montalbert. There are also regular bus and taxi services to airports. The larger centres of both Bourg St Maurice and Moutiers are approximately 25 minutes away with excellent shopping and transport links.

I am sure that in Montalbert you will discover the perfect ski holiday and I am always on hand, with my many years experience of the village and area, to help you get the best out of your stay.
